I remember...

I remember this day...

I remember... many details of this day one year ago. It was a beautiful warm fall day. The sun was shining. We did normal things. We cried. We prayed. But the details of what happened on this day are not the most important. What is important is what God did for us on this day.

I remember... what God did for us on this day. He knew before the foundations of the world that this day would happen. He held you in His hand and gave comfort. He provided, in tiny and huge ways, what you would need. He forgave. He blessed. He reminded us of what really matters and what ultimately is our purpose in life.
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for his is good; for his steadfast love endures forever

I remember... watching you as we moved on from this day. Watching as you sat with your Bible, knowing that your strength would come from Him and no where else. I watched as you held your children and loved them. I watched as we faced each milestone and moved on towards the next one, trusting in God's Providence. I watched as we laughed at some of the most unlaughable situations.
Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
The Lord is on my side as my helper, I shall look in triumph on those who hate me
...I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord help me. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.

I watch you now, in the new place God has you. Some days seem like two steps forward and three back, but you're taking steps. I see a Mom who loves her children deeper. I see a friend and sister who is loved and a special part of my life. I see God's child, growing in understanding and wisdom, who grasps the power of the gospel.

I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it
...You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you.
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
Psalm 118

..."My, the fall leaves sure are beautiful this year"...
