perseverance...

perseverance, n. steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., esp. in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. -syn. tenacity

This sweater has been an exercise in perseverance....

It is a dk weight yarn, knit on a size 5 needle, and represents approximately 20 square feet of stockinette stitch. This will mean nothing to you unless you have picked up knitting needles at least once. Needless to say, my size extra-large-tall husband is a big guy! He wanted a very plain gray sweater to replace his other plain gray sweater. He is a very consistent and steady guy, I like it like that! So I have been knitting this garment for the past 2 yrs on and off. I had it almost ready to piece together and then discovered that it was too short across the shoulders. I ripped it out down to the beginning of the arm holes and worked it again up to the shoulders. The ribbing at the neck took 2 tries. For some reason he wanted to be able to get it over his head! Picky, picky. But I hung in there and now it is complete...and I have a promise that he will wear it even if it is too warm outside and a better understanding of perseverance.

Now what should I knit...
