quote of the day...

Brian shared this at breakfast this morning...

"The favor of the people may be won by some brilliant action, but the love and respect of your neighbors must be gained by a long series of small services, hidden deeds of goodness, a persistent habit of kindness, and an established reputation of selflessness."

Alexis de Tocqueville

Slow, steady, humble, giving relationships walked out over time...sounds like Gospel driven community to me. It's not what is visible on the outside that matters, it is what goes on in the heart and then becomes manifested through actions. Actions seen or unseen by men, but always known by God. Do a deed of goodness today, not for men to see but because our sinfulness needs practice to have that persistent habit of kindness and selflessness. Ah, sanctification at work again...

"...By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked." I John 2: 5-6
